Showdeer was one of the earliest NFT artists we were able to interview. His unique style have quietly made him one of the strongest NFT artists in the space. To date he has sold 540 of his 1,000 creations. Currently the collection has a floor of .5 ETH and total volume traded closing in on 300 ETH. We were lucky enough to sit back down with him to learn more about what has changed over the last 6 months!.
Hi Chris! What has changed since we last spoke?
Hi Mal! A lot of crazy stuff has happened and changed in the last six months since we last spoke back in April! Since then I sold my Genesis to a collector and friend Foobazzler for 20 eth ($64,000). I was featured on the front page of OpenSea twice with a now verified collection. The President of TIME Magazine Keith Grossman contacted me directly and picked up two of my pieces off secondary. My collection continues to sell out every drop even during bear market which people seem to be astonished by. Maybe scarce and quality artwork can outsell aped in community pfp 10k projects? My collection also reached a milestone of $1 Million volume traded. Which to me is just insane.
What new art are you working on and plan to work on?
I recently finished my first minted Genesis piece with Foundation. This is the first fully new Showdeer piece that isn’t part of the main 1000 collection on OpenSea from 2008 – 2020. It shows a new direction I am moving in. I do have OpenSea Special Edition 100/100 pieces I have created and remixed from older pieces but this 1/1 is completely new. I have also finished my second Foundation piece which is the most elaborate piece of digital art I have ever made. Also the most meaningful.. It deals with feelings I have experienced in life with things like anxiety and the chaos and beauty of this world. The Genesis piece is inspired by this Digital Renaissance and the possibility of a new world and currently on loan with Mint Gold Dust for an auction at NFT NYC. I am extremely excited to drop it and more on Foundation and new art on bigger platforms in the near future.
What do you see for yourself and your art as it grows?
I’m excited to expand my art into a more meaningful and personal direction. Where the collection of Showdeer pieces made in the last twelve years did tap into ideas and feelings I had in small moments of life, these larger more elaborate animated pieces will expand on bigger ideas and feelings including anxiety, depression, excitement, sadness, and beauty.. Social behavior and patterns, ideas of being appalled by greed and toxic human behavior, evolution, spiritualism, esotericism, and all of the feelings and ideas we experience which can sometimes be too much to deal with or articulate verbally. Or at least for me. The pieces will be reflecting on society as all great art can and should. As well as giving homage and being inspired by the master painters of classical art, and art movements like Surrealism, Expressionism, Dadaism, and Contemporary Art. I also am very excited to dive into 3D rendered art and animation.
What do you see for the future of the NFT space as a whole?
I think we will see a lot of ups and downs and possibly a total crash and complete revamping of the system of selling NFTs by early 2022. Maybe even with eth 2.0 but who knows. Perhaps a more efficient network and platform will emerge. Yet I also see NFTs becoming more popular and accepted by the mainstream. Even to the point that everything will be an NFT. And it will completely change how we interact with our world. The metaverse and the world will become more symbiotic. NFTs are just the building blocks of something bigger. The nodes of a larger structure of physical reality, metaverse, augmented reality, a decentralized economy and eventually true AI all interacting together in harmony with us. Everything in the new world will have a smart contract like NFTs that are connected to the real world which we will also discover is just as artificial as the metaverse and AI is only a reflection of ourselves. Meaningful and important art and artists will rule and be celebrated and remembered with history while most cash-grab 10k pfps collections will turn to rubble and dust on the floor or just blend in homogeneously into our culture and system.
Any advice you can give to aspiring artists wanting to excel and succeed in the NFT scene?
Make great art. Make art that says something and makes people feel something. Actually put in the work. Stop checking Twitter. Stop complaining and comparing yourself to others and creating drama for yourself. Work on your time management. Spend the time even if it takes you years to get good. When you follow your passion the universe works in your favor because you are doing what you’re supposed to be doing here on Earth. If that is art, put in the work and get good. Not good, but great at doing it. Many doors will open for you to get where you need to go just by putting in the work. Might not even be NFTs but it probably will. If it is, be patient. Keep making art until your style finds you. Don’t follow trends but be inspired by others. Let your authentic voice shine through your art. Help other artists as you grow and expand.
Any other artists we should check out?
Yes! Check out my homies here in Portland Zachary Winteron and Pop Wonder! Also friends Toppy Eton (amazing digital repaints of classical paintings with tons of allegory blended with social ideas and references to the meme universe), Empress Trash (fun and important art and helps donate money to orgs), Dario.eth (Super fun illustrations representing interesting people of NY), Perpetual Dream Maze (beautiful collage pieces), OpusOuch (next level animated Digital Renaissance art), and Dogs Unleashed Project (Super smart 11 year old artist creating art to help save dogs) and so many more! Check out my retweets on my Twitter!
Any upcoming things we should know about?
New 1/1 pieces minted on Foundation, I’m also currently on #0538 of my 1000 piece Showdeer collection on OpenSea.. I drop every Sunday around 2pm (pst). Best of the 2500 pieces I created in the last twelve year span. Possibility of working with some bigger platforms in the near future as well. Thank you Mal!!

Transylvania, October 21, 2021 – The Sneaky Vampire Syndicate (“SVS”) has launched the minting of 8,888 Bat Companion NFTs following the successful launch of Generation 1 Vampires that generated over US$35 million of sales in its first week since launch.
This is the second release of hand-drawn artwork under the SVS project from @Migwashere, one of the artists behind the immensely popular Bored Ape Yacht Club project.
The Bat Companion claim allows the free minting of one bat per Vampire and opens up at 1 PM EST Thursday the 21st of October. The claiming period will be live for 7 days until 1 PM EST on the 28th. Holders can also check if a bat has been already claimed against a particular vampire using its unique ID number. Bats that are never claimed will forever be lost, without an accompanying owner.
The SVS DAO and 35,000+ strong Discord community also voted for an increased trait carry-over from Vampires to bats of 15% which means that holders still have a high chance of minting a bat with rare traits despite owning a more common Vampire. Further, the team is releasing 8 unique 1/1 bats for the community in addition to the existing 16 uniques that will be provided to the unique Vampire and ‘Bat-head’ Vampire holders.
The pre-reveal stage will last 72 hours, with the full reveal of the bat artwork at 1 PM EST Sunday the 24th of October. The SVS team will be routing the metadata through its centralized servers at first to prevent leaking metadata of unclaimed bats. Similar to Generation 1 Vampires, the team will be open-sourcing the metadata generation script for full transparency. After the claiming period is closed; all metadata will be moved to IPFS for decentralization.
The Bat Companion release marks the end of SVS’ Roadmap 1 and the exciting start of Roadmap 2, with Generation 2 female Vampires lined up as the first deliverable. There will be a total supply of 11,111 Female Vampires, 8888 reserved for OG Generation 1 Vampires. SVS’ Lead Developer Woof said: “We’re glad to have finished our roadmap with such a great community; to be able to reward them with another great piece of art done by Mig for just holding onto their Sneaky Vampire is very exciting for our team.”
Although Generation 1 Vampires and the Bat Companions exist on the blockchain, the SVS team is focused on delivering real-world utility for the community primarily through the use of its recently launched $BLOOD utility token. Vampire holders are able to stake their Vampires and in return for doing so, they will receive 3 $BLOOD daily. Bat Companions will also be able to be staked with a return of 1 $BLOOD daily.
Moving forward, $BLOOD will be the focus of all aspects of SVS, with aims to continue to add functionality that will make use of the utility tokens for:
- Access to purchase an exclusive registered & private label SVS champagne created with master champagne connoisseur Shammi Shinh in 2022;
- Exclusive SVS items/perks in the MetaVerse;
- Swapping $BLOOD for fractionalised ownership in Vampires purchased using royalties from the bat sales and decided on by the SVS DAO;
- Discounted minting of additional Generation 2 Female Vampires;
- Breeding between Generation 1 and Generation 2;
- Access to real-world events and product releases;
- Plus lots more!
This also follows massive SVS QR Code billboards appearing in Times Square ahead of the NFT.NYC conference, along with an SVS branded digital billboard truck roaming New York City. Get ready for Vampires and Bats to take over this Halloween…
Sneaky Vampire Syndicate is a proudly independent NFT project and a collection of 8,888 unique Sneaky Vampires living in the lair as well as eternally on the Ethereum blockchain and hosted on IPFS. Each Vampire remains unique and is hand-drawn with its own characteristics and expressions by ex-BAYC artist Migwashere. Each Vampire token allows the holder passage into the realms of The Syndicate. From the outset, The SVS team has continued its vision of constant innovation and to make all aspects of the project as fair as possible. The aim was for as fair distribution as possible, with no bots, minimal whaling and no gas wars; and to give new holders a high chance to be able to get their hands on a Sneaky Vampire.
‘Art in Motion’ Brings NFTs To NYC, Turning Iconic Penn Station into the Largest Public Digital Art Sale Ever
New York, NY – October 6, 2021 – Plug Talk Media, an Out of Home (OOH) advertising agency, has announced a partnership with Intersection, an experience-driven Out of Home media and technology company, to completely take over Penn Station in New York City with an interactive art sale featuring over 50 works of digital art, accessible by QR code. Launching October 4 and running through the end of the month, the ‘Art in Motion’ exhibition will be curated by Plug Talk Media founder Nathan Nakhmanovich, also known as Mogul, and transform Penn Station into the first-of-its-kind digital art sale, featuring non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from dozens of artists.
The station domination will include more than 200 media assets throughout Penn Station, the busiest transportation hub in the Western Hemisphere. Advertisements on column wraps, rotunda banners, directional clocks and stair risers, to name a few, will encourage visitors to participate in the exhibit by scanning QR codes placed on the ads that will unveil the digital artworks available for bid through NFT marketplace OpenSea. The artists in the exhibition were hand-selected by Mogul and executive producer Eric Spivak, known as Motivate.
“This campaign is a statement on the NFT revolution and the power of OOH,” said Nathan Nakhmanovich. “While other NFT galleries have used smaller public and private spaces, the ‘Art in Motion’ gallery will bring NFT to the real-world scale of public transit and showcase how to effectively drive attention from IRL to digital for the masses.”
NFTs have been front and center this year; more than $2.5 billion in NFT sales occurred in the first half of 2021 alone, and in March, an NFT was sold for a staggering $69 million. First introduced in 2014, NFTs can range from movies to music to memes but have become especially popular amongst artists, serving as a new way to buy and sell digital artwork. These digital collectibles serve as a great way to represent ownership of unique and often rare digital assets.
“Art In Motion’ is a pivotal moment for us all to recognize. The innovative use of QR codes tied to Arts and Culture is providing huge opportunities for creators, collectors and curates alike,” said Eric Spivak. “From physical to digital and back, this is an envelope-pushing progressive project with purpose that I hope receives the attention, love and respect it deserves, while providing accessibility to the NFT space and hopefully changing the lives of both the artists and commuters in the process.”
“We’re excited to be working with Mogul to showcase and support talented independent creators in the iconic Penn Station,” said Alexander Bercow, Partner Success Lead of OpenSea. “We believe we’re only just scratching the surface of what’s possible with blockchains and tokenized media – and this activation is proof that NFTs are changing the way society interacts with art.”
In the same way NFTs have brought the market for physical art to the digital world, OOH brings the digital world to public space and allows artists and brands to push and blur those boundaries. OOH presents the perfect canvas for an experiential exhibition like ‘Art in Motion’ that’s capable of immersing an audience throughout each step of their journey.
“Plug Talk Media has truly pushed the envelope when it comes to this station domination, merging their expertise in OOH and NFTs in the biggest way possible,” said Michael Rosen, CRO of Intersection. “By bringing the first QR-driven NFT art sale to Penn Station, Nathan and his team are helping to connect some of the best NFT artists in the world with a completely new audience, while illustrating the creative canvas that OOH provides for marketers and artists alike.”

How did you come up with the ideas?
Juliette the artist has been doing this simpson like art for a few years, we decided to go with a style she is comfortable with to make a generative pfp collection that speaks to us, we’re a fan of the original show.
Juliette is also a tattoo artist, she loves and produces all kinds of art, this is her first project in the nft space.
What Makes this project unique?
It’s just a simple pfp project, what’s unique is that we didn’t put any BS on the roadmap.
Our core value is to under promise and over deliver, enjoying ourselves while we build cool stuff for everyone who shows love by supporting the project.
How Big is the team and what are their roles?
There’s 1 artist Juliette, she’s located in France, oui oui.
3 devs who all live in Portugal, the smart contract dev, the image generation and frontend dev and the dev who is going to build the bots and other analytical dashboards for the community on dune.xyz for example
1 community manager and discord wizard also an IT student
1 community mod and we are looking to get more to help out
The artist and the smart contract dev are close friends who have known each other for years, the rest of the dev team also know each other and have worked together before.
What is the price?
7777 ERC721 tokens 0.05 ETH : We looked at market price and also looked at the size of the teams in other projects
and we put in the necessary quality in terms of art and technical preparation so that everyone has a great minting experience and we believe to have a fair price
Are there any mechanics we should know about?
No crazy mechanics at the moment besides a free companion claim when this project is successfully launched, we are focusing on quality art and delivering a smooth mint for everyone, we are going to select traits that are secret at the moment and we will pick random holders to win giveaways.
Of course our goal is to innovate and give value back to the holders once we deliver this simple roadmap.

Introducing The NFT Leaderboards
Today Nansen unveils the NFT leaderboards. The leaderboards are a fun yet informative tool that act as a starting point to examine interesting wallets and strategies. This new feature complements last week’s release of a wallet profiler displaying total and realized gains for every NFT collection in a wallet. We believe that both products represent industry firsts as they automatically cover all standard ERC721 projects from the moment they start minting. In this post we delve into these new features by examining wallets topping the leaderboard such as Pranksy, Atblank.eth and Natealex.eth.
NFTs (NonFungible-Tokens) are illiquid assets. Just like legacy art you cannot just sell NFTs for a given price at any-time. NFTs need individual buyers and a bespoke negotiation of price. This often means the underlying value of an NFT collection is difficult to establish and requires expertise that can assess both market trends and potential buyers. With the recent boom in new NFT projects, the mere calculation of how much has been spent by a wallet can become a full-time occupation. Questions like ‘How much profit or loss have I made?’ or ‘How do I strategically manage my portfolio?’ often end up with answers based on ad-hoc estimates or data painstakingly input into spreadsheets. Enter the Nansen leaderboard and NFT wallet profiler.
The simplest calculation to undertake for a non-fungible asset like NFTs is total profit. We calculate total profit as total revenue minus total spend. In NFT paradise mode you will now find a leaderboard ranking NFT wallets by total profit made. If you click through to a specific NFT collection you will also see the same leaderboard applied to a specific collection. To be included on the overall NFT leaderboard an account must have bought and sold at least 10 NFTs from over 3 collections. If you want to see a leaderboard just for a particular project you can find this under the hodlers tab in NFT God Mode.
NFT Leaderboards: The notorious Pranksy topping both the overall profit leaderboard (Top) and the Bored Ape Yatch Club leaderboard (Bottom).
Wallet Profile & Realized Gains
A realized gain or loss occurs when an NFT is sold at a price higher or lower than the original purchase price. It is the same metric as total profit or loss but only applies to the specific NFTs bought and sold. If you click a name on the leaderboard or enter a custom address in Nansen’s wallet profile you will access the NFT wallet profiler. Here you can see the total profit and realized gains for a wallet plus a breakdown by the individual collection.
Realized Gains in Wallet Profiler: Pranksy’s wallet making significant gains whilst maintaining a high level of diversification.
Why is this important?
As a collector you may want to devise a personal strategy for NFT investment. With all the excitement surrounding NFTs and FOMO for new projects, being able to understand your own portfolio and buying habits can help develop a sophisticated approach to asset management. When combined with the leaderboards, the wallet profile also surfaces insight into the behaviour of top collectors and how they manage their portfolios. Let’s take a few examples from the leaderboards.
‘Pranksy’ – Best overall profits
Pranksy is prolific. With a total spend of 1860 ETH (currently 3.4 Million USD), Pranksy has spent over 3x the amount of anyone else on the leaderboard. Pranksy also spans more projects than anyone else in the top 10 (86 collections) and in total has purchased 9390 NFTs, of which 2350 have been sold. This data suggests that Pranksy doesn’t just make a huge profit but is also a pioneer keen to reinvest into new projects. Kudos Pranksy. We will look at strategies currently used by Pranksy in a moment but first let’s identify some more key players.
NFT Wallet Profile overall totals for Pranksy
‘Atblank.eth’ – best % profits / Autoglyphs
Sorting by columns reveals a wealth of new wallet names to also examine. Topping the Total profit % is Atblank.eth making a 5000%+ profit on investment. Clicking on Atblank.eth loads the wallet profiler which reveals a staggering 13,000%+ return on Autoglyphs with nearly 50% still unsold.

‘Danny’ – biggest spender / Hashmaks
The wallet labeled ‘Danny’ on Opensea is one the biggest spenders and hodlers with a total spend of 2570 ETH over 7088 NFT purchases, of which only 149 have been sold. Notable spends by Danny include 35 Hashmaks with a total spend of 1175 ETH and none yet sold. #hodlgang

‘Snotrocket.eth’ – most eclectic buyer
With NFTs spanning 118 projects, ‘Snotrocket.eth’ is the most eclectic buyer. Despite this breadth of investment, snotrocket has managed to make 145 ETH total profit and only sold 184 out of their 613 NFTs. That degree of total profit is unusual for an NFT collection with such high diversification.

Top 3 drill-down
Clicking through from the leaderboard or manually entering a wallet address takes you to the wallet profile and a breakdown of spends and gains by every NFT collection purchased. Paying close attention to the numbers in these columns can reveal strategies used by collectors.
1st place – Pranksy and reinvestment
Returning to Pranksy’s wallet and sorting by the percentage sold column reveals zero sales for some major projects recently minted: Bonsai, Cryptoptrunks, Hashdemons, Punk Comics and Polymorphs. In contrast, Bored Ape Yatch Club appears at the later stage of an ongoing sale with 98% (1248/1250) of NFTs sold. Knowing Pranksy’s aversion to selling at floor prices, a lack of selling may either be taken as a signal of long term strength or a lack of buying sentiment.
Further research into current floor prices compared to purchase prices might reveal some interesting if not speculative insight for these key collections.
Realized gains for Pranksy in NFT wallet profile sorted by % Sold
2nd Place – AtBlank.eth and generative art
In contrast to Pranksy, 2nd placed ‘Atblank.eth’ (already featured as 1st for % gains) has a smaller and more focused portfolio spanning only 12 NFT collections and appearing to specialise in generative art like Autoglyphs and Artblocks. Atblank.eth has yet to make a loss on any NFT sold suggesting a patient and considered collecting style. Using the wider features of wallet profile we can also dig a bit more into Atblank.eth’s on-chain history. Looking at related wallets in the NFT wallet overview shows Atblank.eth as a prolific deployer of contracts with 94 deployed to date.
Realized gains in NFT wallet profile reveals that Atblank.eth is yet to sell an NFT for less than they paid.
3rd Place Natealex.eth and consistent returns
3rd place ‘natealex.eth’ demonstrates a consistent ability for realized gains with over 6 projects scoring +1000% returns. Here is a collector who knows their NFTs. When selling popular collections the NateAlex.eth wallet also appears to regularly hodl a remaining ~25-50% of NFTs. This suggests either a long-term attachment to NFTs beyond their monetary value or perhaps just some moon-bags for a rainy day.
Realized gains in NFT wallet profile reveals consistent gains for Natealex.Eth with many NFTs yet to sell Summary
The NFT leaderboards and wallet profiler represent new ways of gaining insight into the fast moving and newly emerging NFT ecosystem. Unlike traditional art-markets, blockchain is able to preserve individual privacy whilst acting as a public treasure trove of data revealing market-trends and buyer strategies. These feature updates enable new and seasoned collectors to curate their own list of notable wallets for unique and personal insights into the latest NFT activity.
For the first time in the couture world, AELIS launches its NFT.
A big first for the crypto and fashion ecosystem: the couture brand Aelis announced an innovative NFT operation during Paris Fashion Week 2021. The Italian house, designed by Sofia Crociani, announced that it will launch an NFT collection named “Luce ImmorTale” that stays true to its identity by pursuing her artistic and eco-sustainable engagement beyond the borders of reality.
While excitement around NFTs in the fashion industry was rising during the last few weeks, Aelis became the first couture house to launch an NFT Collection tied to physical art. Collection “Luce ImmorTale” features five NFTs, all connected to real-life elements (four drawings and one photo) in 1/1 edition, created and signed by Aelis’ founder and creative director Sofia Crociani. Frames of Sofia’s drawings will be marked with the NFT block number. Accompanied by the specialized structures Enephtys and NFT1, the NFTs will be auctioned one by one this summer, 2021. The NFTs in reality are complementary to one another, like pieces of a puzzle. However, they can also exist separately as each NFT tells the story of the young couture house.
Platforms and details of those auctions will be announced separately. The dress was presented during Haute Couture Fashion Week at Aelis virtual show but the specific piece has yet to be revealed.
AELIS couture F/W 2021-2022 Film:
Another interesting feature of the collection is the vesting period: just like in the traditional art industry, two years after the sale, the collection will be traveling around the world in different art galleries and museums and exhibited at different cultural events creating the provenance and history.
After the two years, the one collector who gathers more than three NFTs will be the owner of the first-ever tokenized haute couture dress, also tied to an NFT. The names of
the first collectors or DAOs who purchased the NFTs will be showcased together with the art pieces. The game will continue for two years and the only way to stop it is by gathering all five pieces. In that scenario, the collector will be able to claim the whole “Luce ImmorTale” collection: five framed NFTs and the dress.
“Aelis continues its artistic and eco-sustainable commitment beyond the borders of reality,” the house said in a statement. “The manifest and tangible world resonate in the virtual world of metaverses. These new spaces of creation and freedom, built on blockchain technology and which keep breaking the codes, are known for being developed in correlation and harmony with NFTs. Inspired by this creative impetus and breaks with the customs of conventional artistic expression, Aelis, therefore, decided to deliver its message as part of a one-of-a-kind NFT experience.”
The designer of AELIS, Sofia Crociani has a remarkable background in Haute Couture: Dior and Karl lagerfeld.
Sofia Crociani created AELIS , ecological art-to-wear couture, in July 2017. Despite being founded only 4 years ago, her House is a guest member of the French Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion, making AELIS one of the youngest Couture brands invited in the Haute Couture fashion week.
