Takashi Murakami provides NFT update on the Murakami.Flower

We have been following Takashi Murakami for years. We even speculated about Takashi Murakami’s entry into the NFT space a month before his announcement and eventual pausing of his project. You can read about that here.  Since then, he has learned a lot about NFTs and partnered with RTFKT (eventually purchased by Nike) to launch TakashiPom influenced art on the Clone-X avatars.  This morning Takashi provided an update on his progress. Looks like his original 16-bit inspired Takashi.Flowers are still going to come, sometime next year. (Likely around the 1 year anniversary of his original entrance into the space.)

Since around March this year, I have been working on my grid-drawn flower series, “Murakami.Flower”. I have been experimenting and mulling over various details of releasing it as NFTs, including whether to prepare my own smart contract and what kind of scale the project should take on, by putting together and disbanding teams a few times. As I have finally managed to organize a team at a primitive level, I am planning to release it sometime this spring.

That I was able to participate in the recent RTFKT @rtfktstudios Clone X project was also a very meaningful experience. They are quite generous and I learned a lot from them.

I will keep you posted on the development bit by bit.
